Chef Tommy, as he is affectionately known, was born and raised in Fort Walton Beach. His culinary journey began humbly as a dishwasher, but through years of dedication and talent, he worked his way up to become an award-winning Executive Chef.

When the pandemic forced the restaurant industry into upheaval, Tommy and his wife saw an opportunity to pivot. They purchased an established catering website, and Artistic Catering was born. Since then, their business has been thriving from word-of-mouth referrals and their unwavering commitment to taste and quality. Known as the “Chef that will go anywhere,” Chef Tommy specializes in cooking on yachts, bringing gourmet dining experiences to the open waters.
Artistic Catering offers an impressive array of cuisine, from seafood boils to Italian feasts, barbecues, and coastal-inspired menus. Whether catering intimate yacht gatherings or large-scale events, Chef Tommy and his team create dishes that are visually stunning, fresh, and, delicious. This high standard has not gone unnoticed by our communities. They have won “Best Chef in Destin” multiple times, and winner of the prestigious, “Finest on the Emerald Coast” award.
But Artistic Catering is more than just a business, it’s a labor of love for Tommy and his wife. Their story is as heartwarming as their food is mouthwatering. Their journey began in a local bar, where Tommy persistently pursued his future wife for four years. A single mother at the time, she finally agreed to a home-cooked meal prepared by Tommy and the rest is history. Today, they run their catering company together, balancing the demands of their growing business and raising their two daughters.
A key player in the Artistic Catering family is Chef Stephan Shorts, who has been with the team since the beginning. His dedication and expertise have been instrumental in shaping the company’s success. Together, this small but mighty team ensures that every event they cater is infused with passion and culinary artistry. In addition to their catering work, Tommy is deeply involved in the local community. From coaching youth flag football to cheering on his daughters’ basketball games, he has made an impact beyond the kitchen.
Chef Tommy’s vibrant personality shines through on his TikTok (@DestinChef), where he shares everything from his cooking adventures to family moments and sports highlights. Their latest venture is the recent purchase of a food truck, known as the Big Red Truck, coming soon and ready to serve some delicious eats to the community.
